Sprocket’s Book Part 1

I can feel the excitement coursing through me as I write this, it's bubbling in my chest. I have a simple way to plan my days in the studio and this task has been on my ‘eventually I’ll get this done list’ for a while. You'll know if you've been following me for a while what I'm up to and the murmurings that have been coming from me about this topic for some time. It's been suggested 100 times and I've shrugged it off and said eventually and now eventually is here, I've started to do the tiny steps towards a goal that I've been wanting to achieve for so long. Those tiny steps to writing my own children's book with Sprocket and his gang is finally here Yes people the excitement is real. I've been dreaming of this moment since forever and now it feels right to put the belief in myself to do one. I'm sharing with you my journey from Illustrator sharing my work on Instagram and selling it on Etsy to publishing my first book.

How you may ask? and my answer is let's just enjoy the tiny steps of this unknown process together. You can become my cheerleaders and I'm going to share every step of this journey with you all.

Coming up with an idea?

This is a biggy for me, I've daydreamed ideas for my book for such a long time and after maybe years of daydream I finally came up with a plan. I journal quite a bit, I have quite a few on the go, to be honest. I have my business one which is my go-to book when I'm feeling out of ideas and over a month in that journal I repeatedly came up with a reoccurring idea of my book.

Should I reveal my title?

Hmm, maybe not yet! What I will say is the story is about how Sprocket the dog and Scoot the bird met. It naturally involves biscuits and friendship. Which always makes me smile because it also involves tea.

Initial Sketches

A quick sketch

I got the title then I started sketching out ideas and plots (below) then once I'd worked that out I wrote a simple story, then I rewrote it again and again.

Excitement

The excitement for this project is huge for me, yet there are so many unknowns, do I try and get it published or self publish it? How many pages does a children's book have? How do I know what age group to aim for? There's so much I don't know but I can't wait to learn. I've been doing lots of research so If I find any information out that I think you'd love to know I'll add it to my blog post with links.

Thank you so much for all your support so far, you're helping dreams come true.

Sending love
